Merlins Squads Seal Victory
Women’s D1 26 – Denver Black Ice 12
Glendale Raptors Rugby Academy 43 – Denver Barbarians 15
Glendale’s Division I Men’s team enjoyed a bye this weekend, allowing the squad time to prepare for what promises to be an exceptional challenge against the Dallas Rugby Reds on April 7. The Dallas team has performed impressively in the Red River Conference this year, and Merlins Head Coach Luke Gross expects the competition to be high. Coming off a victory over the Dallas Harlequins last week, Gross hopes to parlay his squad’s newfound confidence. Plagued by injuries in 2018, the Division I Merlins Men have seemed to find their stride late in the season.

The remaining Glendale teams performed admirably this weekend as well, with both the Division I Women’s team and the Academy side winning their respective matches. The Glendale Raptors Rugby Academy, a unique training vehicle for young Colorado ruggers, handily defeated the Denver Barbarians 43-15. The D1 Women took down Denver Black Ice, with a 26-12 victory in a hard fought match.
Next weekend will see more rugby action for the Glendale clubs. The Men’s D1 team hosts the Dallas Rugby Reds at Infinity Park at 2pm Mountain Time, while the Academy squad will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on Indiana University.
